The Power of Words
written by Samantha Richards

During my journey, I have made huge personal changes, allowing me to benefit from previously unnoticed opportunities.

I have gained a deeper understanding of who I am, including my triggers and reactions to people and events, and the obstacles I have faced and overcome have encouraged acceptance in all aspects of my life. Through a greater self-awareness, I have been blessed with a more accepting, less critical view of life and the world in which I live.

I use the word accepting because it is now a significant part of my philosophy. Until I embarked on this journey, I did not realise that I lacked acceptance. I was judgemental, opinionated, jaded, angry, and lacked confidence in my talents.

Acceptance has let me open my heart and my mind to all possibilities around and within me. By accepting myself for who I am, including all those sides that I did not like, I have allowed my spirit to rise within me, bringing with it gifts I never knew I had.

I also have learned to accept others and their viewpoints, which makes for wonderful discussions. Variety is the spice of life, and each of us is unique, as are our personal journeys and experiences.

Another term might be applicable for you, perhaps self-belief or trust. If this is the case, consider how this term might change your perspective on life and the act of living. Words are powerful, and in finding the one that has meaning for me, I have given myself permission to start living my life and stop simply existing.

Everything you experience will be unique to you. No two people will have the same view of a scene they are observing together. Each will give different descriptions of that scene, and while those descriptions may be similar, there will at least be marginal differences.

If several people are seated in a room and all but one swaps chairs, the view presented of the person who has not moved will be different for all those who have switched places. For example, someone originally facing the individual who remained seated might then see this person’s profile, which he may not previously have noticed.

This analogy shows that different views of the same situation can change the way in which we look at circumstances. These perceptions present opportunities for growth.

Believing in ourselves is vital, and with courage, determination, and the help of our spirit, we can watch our dreams come true.

You may find this surprising, but I never used to have dreams or aspirations. However, in discovering my dreams, I faced my fear of rejection and criticism, and pursued them. One of those dreams was to write this book, so I decided to try. The words seemed to flow. I have not been taught how to write, certainly not for publication, though I’ve always written poetry. However, I now have a passion for writing, and no matter what, I intend to keep doing it.

I realised that my fears could no longer hurt me and that my more disturbing memories were in place to keep me from perceived harm, but they were in fact doing more damage. This insight has enabled me to drive away the inner demons that held me hostage for so long, and in doing so, I am now able to achieve my dreams. The most rewarding part of all the hard work is the inner peace I have discovered.

Acceptance, self-belief, courage, determination, self-awareness, and my spirit have brought me unconditional self-love, and that is the greatest gift that I could have offered myself.

I have lost nothing and gained everything during this journey.

Enjoy your own journey, knowing that you can only grow stronger and brighter in your self-discoveries.

About the Book:

From a young age, Samantha Richards knew things that others didn’t, saw things that others couldn’t, and said things that others simply couldn’t understand. She had the sight, the ability to see “beyond” and deliver messages. This ability, which some might consider a gift, was the source of great stress and pain for the young woman. After an out-of-body experience in her teens, she stopped the spirits from speaking to her through their usual routes, and life became quieter.

In 2000, at the age of thirty-one, tragedy struck when her first child died during delivery. In her grief and her anger at God, she shut her gifts down for good, vowing never to give another person a message from beyond. She excommunicated herself from the Catholic faith and from God, furious that such a pure, innocent soul had been taken. For nine years, her heart was filled with hatred—and then a miracle happened: after her guardian angel healed her heart, Samantha didn’t know how to hate anymore. A year later, she witnessed angels protecting her plane. With these invitations, she welcomed the spirits back into her life, with joy and hope.

In Touched by Divine Love, Samantha shares the astonishing details of her path back to her true spiritual self. Now a personal and spiritual development leader, psychic medium, and healer, she hopes that others will see themselves as beings of raw potential—and reach for their true selves in the process.
